Day trip to the South Coast – Stop 2: Mountain Range Farm (Dapto Community Farm)

The Mountain Range Farm was recommended by the Hawkesbury Harvest Trail.  There was not much information online so we stumbled in, not knowing what to expect.

We arrived at an industrial tin shed just in front of the parking lot.

Mr. A unassumingly walked into the only entrance…and found out it was a massage clinic!

The farm was actually behind the tin shed and we entered by walking around the right of the shed.  The concept of the community farm became clear to us – the land was split into even plots assigned to locals who were encouraged to grow and harvest their own crops.  We even saw a plot with a hen house!

This Saturday morning, there were around 10 locals minding their own business and busily working on their patches.

It was an eye-opener for me as it was my first time seeing a community farm, but (at least when we were there) there was no produce for sale onsite.  All in all, we were glad we saw it once, but this was a quick 5 minute stop only.
