Day trip to the South Coast – Stop 3: Crooked River Wines

Who would have thought that the Princes Highway was home to a peaceful, picturesque winery shielded off the noise and sight of the highway itself? We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Crooked River Winery, a boutique winery in Gerringong.

The picturesque views…right on the Princes Highway!

Inside the restaurant

Inside the complex was a light, airy and stunning restaurant with views of the lush green winery and we are informed that the head chef is Coop Woodstone who had starred on the reality series Masterchef.

Light and airy restaurant and of course, unbeatable views

Snack menu

Of course, the wine tasting area cannot be missed. We were offered wine tasting by a friendly guy (who we guessed was the son of the owners). He knew his wines well and was very generous with the tastings! Apart from wines, Crooked River also produces beers. The alcoholic ginger beer had the perfect balance of sweetness, tang and spiciness, and was perfect for a hot summer’s day like today. Mr. A was not leaving without bringing home a case of the ginger beer!

Our pick, the perfectly balanced sweet, tangy and bitter (and did we forgot to mention, alcoholic?) ginger beer
