When the LVMH group (Louis Vuitton, Dior, Céline, Givenchy…the list goes on) shows interest in acquiring TWG Teas, you know that TWG has achieved the ultimate status in the tea world. And it’s quite a feat – who would have thought that leaves could be luxurious?
When you step into the beautiful boutique, purchase an impeccably packaged teapot and tea, feel the fine cotton teabag, and sip tea from a teapot lined with 18 carat gold, you know you’re in heaven.
I visited the luxe boutiques in Bangkok and Singapore, and I must recommend the boutiques in Singapore – as TWG originated in Singapore, it stocks teas that aren’t available elsewhere in the world!
There are literally hundreds of teas to choose from. I was stuck at Changi Airport for a good half hour selecting a tea. After deliberating with my friend over the selection of 6 Moroccan teas, I finally settled on the Oud Night tea, described as:
A precious fragrance warms the evening air, laden with a rich infusion of rare calambac, incense and smoky black tea. Dissolving into an earthy potion of molten resin, cedar and smouldering tea flowers, Oud Night Tea is an ardent offering – a luxuriant and incandescent dream of sweet eternity.
Some of the boutiques also have tea salons, make sure you check them out! It’s pricey but the experience makes you feel like royalty. It’s definitely worth a try.
